One of my passions is repurposing vintage lights.
‘A woman came up to me after seeing one of my solar glass globes saying it reminded her of her Grandma. She went on to say “I remember snuggling up to her in the old green armchair, under that exact swag lamp shade! I can smell her, I can feel her arms around me, I miss her so much! I must have that lamp!!!” When I told her it was solar she couldn’t believe it!’
Funny how something that triggers a memory so strong, can be so awesome!!!
That is why I love to repurpose. It’s amazing how are you can find something at a refit or thrift store, keep that item out of the landfill & repurpose it and make it fabulous again!
DIY Vintage Hanging Solar Lamp
I never trust the wiring on an old lamp or light. By removing it and replacing it with solar, it not only brings it into the 21st century but you are able to enjoy it efficiently for many more years!

2. Measure and cut chains
Cut chain 3 even lengths (long enough to go around the solar light) and then join the three chains at the tops.
3. Connect chains and mounting wire
Hold the chain above the glass globe so you can connect & thread each chain into the wire.
4. Secure wire and chains
Secure the wire around the lip of the globe with the chains equally spread out.
Check StopIf you have this so far you’re doing great!
5. Slide solar light into place
Slide the solar light into place through the chains. You could glue it at this point or not.
Make multiples and hang them in a porch, you will sure to be getting many comments on them.
